Why should you consider hand drumming in Kelowna BC?
Hand Drumming is a wonderful activity. You can get lost in the melodies and the drum beats.
But did you know that it is an effective way to learn about how you communicate and how well you listen to others? Hand drumming is ideal for individuals that want to be heard, or want to become more assertive. It helps to teach us the skills needed to work well in groups.
That is why I teach hand drumming in Kelowna BC.
I have a unique approach to teaching hand drumming. I may teach interesting African and Cuban rhythms, but the music is less important then the life skills that my participants learn. When you are drumming, you don’t think about time, responsibilities and the demands of life. You let yourself play and interact with others. It is during these classes that anxieties, fears, and the need to be the centre of attention come into full view.
When you play a drum, your focus shifts from what you might be struggling with, to being in the present and just enjoying life. It develops a great awareness of what you are doing at the time and how you are being to the people around you.
It is a great way to learn how to be a better communicator, leader, team member, or how to just play really great songs!
These Lessons are built to suit your abilities and are meant to help
you take that rhythm that is inside you and bring it out...
- Play more confidently.
- Be able to play along to a variety of music.
- Learn the difference between Slaps and the other Tones
- Feel the Rhythm and Let go of your fear of getting it right!

My feelings about drumming
According to Justin, drumming is “not just about drumming, but about life.” It is a reflection of one’s own personal life experiences and journey. Justin describes the world in which we live as having many different stresses and says“drumming is a way of letting go”. When you are drumming, you don’t think about time, responsibilities and the demands of life. Your focus shifts from what you might be struggling with, to being in the present which promotes inner healing. Justin describes how exhilarating it is to see students transform from initially being worried if they are drumming perfectly and fearful of what others may think, to becoming fearless, open and engaged in the session!

With much care and consideration for ourselves, and those around us, we become filled happiness. When we become the vessel, or the embodiment rather, of joy by merely opening or perceptions and wishing our heartfelt sentiments outwards, we receive it back tenfold.
